4-Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged PoE+ Fiber Switch

This 4-port Gigabit Ethernet switch is the perfect component when tying copper-based networking devices to fiber-based networks. Basically, it is an unmanaged 4-port PoE switch with a couple of media converters built-in.

The TL-NS42-POE has four PoE ports that can be configured with or without power to connect a variety of devices, such as security cameras or wireless access points. The COMBO port will connect a fiber- or copper-based network to the copper PoE ports and Optical port 1.

Additionally, the switch can be daisy-chained to another switch via fiber or copper.

The TL-NS42-POE supports multimode fiber when paired with a multimode SFP module and single mode fiber when paired with a single mode SFP module

  • UTP PoE 1~4 - 10/100/1000 Base-T(X) RJ45 Ports with PoE/PoE+
    • Connect to a network device (i.e. IP camera) using standard network patch cable
  • UTP Port 5 - 10/100/1000 Base-T (X) RJ45 Port (Available when 'Optical 2' is not in use)
  • COMBO Optical 2 - 1000BaseFX SFP Slot (Available when 'Port 5' is not in use)
    • Insert an SFP module (1G bandwidth) according to the fiber type (single mode or multimode).

  • DIP Switch 1~4 - Change between PoE Auto Mode (Down) and PoE Off (Up) for the corresponding UTP Port
  • LED 1~4 - Lit when providing power to the powered device (PD)
  • Grounding Screw - Connect to earthed panel.
  • DC PWR - Redundant power inputs.  Both inputs can be connected simultaneously.

 

System Connection

Grounding

Proper grounding and and cable routing will help limit the effects of noise due to electromagnetic interference (EMI).  Run the ground connection from the ground screw to the grounding surface prior to connecting devices.

This product is intended to be mounted to a well-grounded mounting surface such as a rack panel or DIN rail.

 

Redundant Power Inputs

Both power inputs can be connected simultaneously to live DC power sources.  If one power fails, the other live source acts as a backup, and automatically powers the switch.

 

DIP Switch Settings

DIP Position Function
On (Down)* Enables automatic detection. Corresponding PoE port will automatically supply power when it connects to a PoE PD (Powered Device)
Off (Up) Disables the PSE functionm Corresponding port will only have data communication.
