The standards of architectural speakers have been reset forever. Featuring KEF’s patented Uni-Q driver array, the in-wall KEF Ci5160REF-THX - meets KEF’s standards for Extreme Theatre as well as THX Ultra Certification. At the heart of the Ci5160REF-THX is the 11th generation of the KEF’s signature innovation: the Uni-Q point source MF/HF driver array. With a 25mm vented aluminium dome tweeter at the exact acoustic centre of a 125mm mid-range driver, both act as a single source that floods the listening space evenly with a flawless natural sound field.
Like everything else about THE REFERENCE, the bespoke 160mm LF driver optimised for use in-wall, is a class apart. With a massive vented magnet assembly and a large aluminium wire voice coil driving an exceptionally light, stiff and strong alloy cone, the dynamics and power handling are superb.
KEF engineers computer-modelled the ideal crossover networks before exhaustively auditioning every high-grade component to select those with the lowest distortion and the smoothest response. Perfectionism takes time, but the difference is clear. Nothing is overlooked – the HF and LF crossovers are even mounted on separate boards to minimise crosstalk.
The KEF Ci5160REF-THX is built to the same exacting standards as the REFERENCE speakers. And like all REFERENCE speakers, the Ci5160REF comes with the REFERENCE Build Certificate signed by the craftsman who built it.
